Annointed Beauty Daily Devotions Ministry

As youth we go to school and we learn about different sciences, whether it be earth science, biology, chemistry or physics. Often we think it’s a waste of time and it has no practical application to our lives. But, this is not the case when we look at genetics in the realm of biology.

People may tell you that you look like your mother and father because genes get passed down from generation to generation. They may also tell you that you carry some of their habits. In case you haven’t noticed, genes are not limited to your physical traits but they can also affect the way you act and your behavior to a certain extent.

The amazing thing about all of this is that Jesus was also subject to the law of hereditary just like us! Let’s see, Matthew 1:1 states that Jesus (through His mother’s side only) would come from the house of Abraham and David! That means that ALL the physical characteristics and habits from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Jesse, David, Solomon, Absalom, Amnon and so on would be passed down to Jesus!

Lets see some of these bad habits (although there were some good too)

1) Abraham & Isaac were known as liars and tricksters, and were weak willed (Genesis 12:10-13, Genesis 16:1-4)

2) Jacob was also a liar and a trickster and showed favoritism (Gen. 26:18-29)

3) David had a BIG problem with lust and women (2 Samuel 11:1-5)

4) David’s son Amnon raped his brother’s sister Tamar (2 Sam. 13:12-14)

5) David’s son Absalom had a hot temper and killed his brother (2 Sam 13:29)

6) David’s son Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines(1 Kings 11:1-3)

There were a lot of bad habits in Christ’s bloodline, but for our sake He took on all of these bad habits to show us the way to overcome sin! And don’t forget Christ was from Nazareth. Nazareth was the worst place to live during the times of Jesus. It was rampant with crime, poverty, violence, sin and much more. If you wanted to fall into sin Nazareth was the place to be!

God had put Christ in Nazareth on purpose so that He could be tempted in every way possible! Christ’s life on earth was hard and He had to endure SEVERE trials and tribulations, and if He sinned just once, we would never get a chance to eternal life.

Messages to Young People by E.G. White quotes “The1st 30 years of Jesus life were spent in Nazareth so that His character would be tested and tried in a variety ways. His early life was subject to severe trials, hardships &conflict that He might develop the perfect character which makes Him a perfect example. He lived a life of poverty, self-denial & privation.” No one in the history of mankind was ever called to live a perfect Christian life under such hard circumstances!

Christ overcame because He found strength in God….and so can we! When the Devil tempted Christ, each response He had, begun with “IT IS WRITTEN” which shows that He studied the scriptures and believed in God’s promises of deliverance!Christ was also often found in prayer. He had a very busy, hectic life with a lot of responsibility, yet He always found time to talk to God and as a result was refreshed and received power! (Luke 6:12, Luke 5:16)

In conclusion, we see that we are all affected by bad habits, sin and our environment. But no matter how hard things may seem, we must look at Christ who s our ultimate example! He overcame sin under circumstances harder than any of us! And how did he do it? By daily study of the Word, and ceaseless praying and communication with God! **(it’s important to have faith when we pray to God,and faith comes from hearing the word of God….which comes from reading the Bible and devotions!
