Annointed Beauty Daily Devotions Ministry

The people of Israel had come to Jericho and encountered a fortified wall that kept them from taking the city. How are we going to get pass that wall, Joshua? Do you see how tall and strong that wall is? Maybe God made a mistake. Maybe this is the one city we won’t be able to overcome.

As I think about how this story unfolded, I reflect on the human tendency to easily be intimidated. The Israelites allowed the height and reinforced walls of Jericho to scare them and cause them to doubt. Despite the fact that they had seen many depictions of God’s power, they just seem to have perfected forgetfulness. They are a people who lived through slavery and saw God rain down mighty plagues to free them. They saw Him part the waters to make a path for them. They saw His Shekinah Glory cloud guide and protect them. YET, they still had a forgetful spirit.

The story goes on to say that the Lord instructed them to march around the city for seven days and on the seventh day they were to shout and the Lord would give them the city. WAIT! Did you just say SHOUT? What in the world? How are we suppose to lay hold of the city by marching AROUND the city? I could just imagine the barage of questions Joshua endured from the people.

Have you ever gone to the Lord about a problem that appears insurmountable and He gives you an out of this world solution/task? I have! Case in point, this devotional ministry. Despite the challenges being faced by my family, He just put it in my heart to launch this ministry. Ofcourse at first I thought I was hearing things, but I wasn’t. In your journey with God, He will sometimes ask the weirdest tasks of you or provide an out of this world, not normal solution. One thing is for certain, He has a plan.

On the 7th day as they were nearing their final few steps around the Wall of Jericho, the command was given and the people shouted their lungs out. As they shouted, the reinforced, fortified Wall of Jericho came tumbling down. Once again God had proven His sovereignty. What seemed off the wall, brought down the wall the was keeping them from their blessing.

There are many blessings that have not yet arrived in our lives because we are fighting instead of shouting. No matter how big our problems are, we serve an even greater God and as His children who profess to have faith in Him, we must get to the point that we trust His instructions. If God says shout at the problem, start shouting. If He says dance around the house that is up for foreclosure, dance. Whatever He places in your spirit to do, DO! Because He is greater than the walls.

Is there something that God has told you to do that you find WEIRD? Don’t you think He’d know better than YOU? Think about it!

Memory Text: Proverbs 3:5,6

and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight

Prayer Prompt:
Dear Lord,
Please help me to totally rely on you and to do whatever it is you request of me. Help me to acknowledge You and trust in Your ways.
