There’s gotta be a spare umbrella here somewhere. That’s what you’ll usually catch me saying when it’s pouring out and I didn’t expect it to (which is 90% of the time). You may be wondering well why don’t you watch the news for the weather right? Well, I and the news are not the best of friends. No, it is not because they say it is going to snow and it turns out to be 71 degrees and sunny. I stopped watching the news on a regular basis because it was always BAD news.
Nothing good ever seems to happen. So, I have just opted not to subject my mind and spirit to so much negative information. I often tell my friends that I don’t have to watch the news to find out what happened that day. I just think of every horrible that can happen and assume that it happened somewhere (I know, I know, that is depressing). As bad as this sounds, we must remember that the enemy is the prince of this earth and he is running all sorts of tricks and plotting all types of evil because he knows his days are numbered. What gets me is the shocked reactions that Christians have when they hear about the calamities that happen.
Jesus warned us of the things to come in the end of time and the Apostle John wrote a whole book about it (yeah you know that book we all don’t like reading except the part where Jesus comes back). God warned us of what is too come. Unfortunately, many have disregarded the warnings because Jesus hasn’t come yet. These warnings were not written to be thrown out as “old mumbo jumbo”. They were written to forewarn us in hopes of inspiring us to live right with God.
When we see the wars, famines, EARTHQUAKES happening all around us, we should be reminded of what Jesus said:
When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come – Mark 13:7
As Christians who have the Word of God in hand, we have an advantage over the world. We have been warned of what is to come. With this gift, we should live our lives in a way that when all comes to an end and our Savior comes riding on a cloud, we will be able to rise up and be counted among the saints of God.
One of my favorite songs that inspires me to look forward to the Second Coming of Christ is Days of Elijah.
Behold he comes
Riding on a cloud
Shining like the sun
At the trumpet’s call
Lift your voice
It’s the year of jubilee
Out of Zion ’till salvation comes
I pray that the video below will be a blessing to your soul.
Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. – Revelation 22:12-13 (NIV)
Thank you for reminding me that things will worsen on this earth but you have gone up to prepare a place for me. Help me to be patient in tribulation and vigilant in life so that when the trumpet sounds and time is no more, I will meet you in the air.
I received a prayer request once from a mother whose son-in-law just got a new job after being laid off a year ago. Her request was that God provide a car for her daughter’s family so that he can keep the job. I for one thought that this was a very noble request and submitted it to our prayer warrior team.
However, one thing in this request caught me off guard.
She stated “I know it’s wrong to ask God for material things but they really need it.” Can someone tell me where did people get the idea that making a request for something you need is wrong? Who is preaching this madness? God never specified what we can ask Him for. All we need to do is make our requests known with a sincere heart, right motive and mustard seed faith.
It is because many have this erroneous belief stuck in their heads that they lose out on blessings. God wants us to make our requests known to him through Prayer and Supplication not doubt and hesitation. What’s the worst that can happen? He’ll say NO. I’d rather ask God and get a NO than not ask him and pass on a YES.
God is not just some deity up there that dictates orders. He is a loving and compassionate God. He cares about every aspect of our lives. He is not just our God, He’s our FRIEND. Israel Houghton has it right when he sings:
I am a friend of God
I am a friend of God
I am a friend of God
He calls me FRIEND.
God desires a personal relationship with us. One where we can come boldly before him and tell him our hurts, concerns, desires and dreams. He wants a personal and intimate relationship. There is nothing too menial to ask God. If he could care for the itty bitty spider, how in the world can you not have faith that he’ll take care of you?
Whatever your petition may be, come BOLDLY before the throne of your Heavenly Father and tell him all about it. Do you have a petition that you thought God would punish you for asking for? Is it sincere? Is your motive in line with the Word of God? Do you have the mustard seed faith that he can and will answer? If you answered yes to all of these questions, THEN ASK HIM ALREADY!
I pray that this devotion will inspire you to come boldly before the Lord and get your prayers answered.
Remember we would love to pray for you. Submit your prayer requests HERE.
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?- Romans 8:32
Thank you for reminding me that I can come to you t anytime and make ALL of my requests known. Thank you for not only being my God but also my FRIEND. Teach me how to come boldly before your throne at all times and help me to develop that mustard seen faith that will move the mountains in my life..
In Mark 5, we read of the demon possessed man who came to Jesus. He was living amongst the tombs and was described as being extremely violent and uncontrollable. They could not bind him at all. Not even chains were able to subdue this man. Night and day he would cry out and cut himself with stones. This man was in serious warfare. The enemy was torturing this poor man’s soul and he was not letting up. Think about it, the enemy wanted to destroy this man so much that he didn’t just send one demon into him, he swamped him with a legion of demons. According to Dr. Wilmington, a well respected Theologian, a legion is approximately 6,000 demons.
6,000 DEMONS? There are so many fallen angels that the enemy can afford to send 6,000 of them to torture just one man. He is so desperate and will stop at nothing to torture the children of God. The story goes on to tell us that the demons themselves recognized Jesus as the Son of God and asked that he allow them to enter the wild pigs and leave them be. Even demons tremble at the very presence of God. In a blink of an eye, Jesus delivered this man and he was now free from the enemy’s chains. He was no longer bound. He was no longer living amongst the tombs, He was no longer cutting himself with stones, he was no longer crying out. Jesus came into this man’s life, freed him from his chains and then sent him off to share his healing with others.
It is said that this man went through the cities of Decapolis which were a conglomerate of 10 cities. All but one were visited by this man and when they heard his testimony, they marveled. Isn’t it amazing how God can use a man that was outcast and possessed? He turned a maniac into a missionary. God uses the least of us to accomplish his tasks. The Lord saw this man’s affliction even though he was filled with demons, God saw past the demons and saw the soul of this man.
God is concerned about our souls. Even though we may still be fighting with the demons in our lives, God can make us whole again and release us into the mission field. Whatever your afflictions may be, your deliverance comes from the Lord. The enemy can not remain in the presence of God. He trembles at the mention of his very name. Call out to the Father even in your pain, call out to the Healer even in your sickness, call out to the Restorer even in your weakness, Call out to Him who can and will free you of all of your afflictions.
I am grateful to know that there is no battle to hard for God and no legion to strong to fight. One word from the Lord and I am set free. Be encouraged today to know that just one word from God will deliver you and set you on the path to fulfilling your life’s mission.
For nothing is impossible with God. – Luke 1:37
Thank you for revealing to me that there is nothing to hard for you to handle. Help me to call out to you when all hope seems lost. Help me to remember that just one word from you will set me on a new path. …
Last night as I tried to think of a topic for this morning’s devotion, the statement Don’t you let go came to mind. I thought about it for a minute and was brought to the story of Jacob and the Angel. You see Jacob had stolen Esau’s birthright and now was in need of the Lord’s protection and intervention. Esau was on his way and we all know it wasn’t going to be pretty when he got there. Jacob began to pray real hard then something miraculous happened.
Genesis 32: 24-28
24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
Boy do I want to be like Jacob. Jacob wasn’t having it. He fought with the Angel and would not let go. They fought all night till dawn. The angel told Jacob to let go and Jacob said I WON’T LET GO UNTIL YOU BLESS ME! Now that is what I am talking about. When you come before the Lord and make your petitions known, you need to hold on until you get your blessing. Don’t give up because things are rough, keep holding on. Don’t give up because your back is against the wall, keep holding on. Don’t give up because the enemy said you are losing, keep holding on. Hold on until you receive your blessing. Keep praying until you see your breakthrough. As a matter of fact, P.U.S.H – PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS.
If you have to spend all night wrestling with the Lord until the break of dawn, WRESTLE ON IN PRAYER! Hold on to the Maker until He blesses you. All too often, we give up when things get rough. God wants us to be like Jacob and hold on until we see our breakthrough. Don’t let go of the Lord.
I pray that this devotion will inspire you to keep pressing on and wrestling in prayer. Deliverance is on the way so DON’T YOU LET GO!
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD – Psalm 27:14
Thank you for teaching me to hold on. Strengthen me Lord and help me to wait patiently for my blessing. Like Jacob, I won’t let go of you until you BLESS me and even when you do bless me, I still won’t let go of your hand. I place my life in your hand and I know that my deliverance is on the way….
Last night two of my girlfriends and I linked up for some relaxation time. The guys were off to their Superbowl party, so the ladies had some girl time. We watched the movie “Precious” which is a definite must see. After the movie, we shared some of our experiences and how faithful God has been to us.
As they were talking, I thought about my current challenges and how bleak the road ahead seems to be. I know that God is working it out, but not knowing WHEN He will open the door is a difficult place to be in. The enemy has surrounded me and he is throwing his best attacks my way. Where’s God? I ask myself. Does he not see this? What did I do to deserve this? Then I hear him answer, YOU DID NOTHING TO DESERVE THIS! The enemy is just showing off, but I GOT THIS!
This takes me back to the garden at Gethsemane. I imagined how Jesus must have felt to see the pain that was in store for Him. The agony He must have endured. But like Jesus, I know what is happening now is for a greater purpose. However, right this minute, I want to ask God to “take this cup away from me”. It seems like too much to bear and I just wish God would just come down and rescue me NOW. However, I know I must get to the point where I can say Not my will, but thy will be done.
It’s not about how I feel, its about Jesus. It’s not about when I want it, but it’s about His perfect will. Sometimes, you will feel like your back is against the wall and enemy has mounted an attack on you. You look to the left and see no way out. You look to the right and see more attacks. This is the time where you need to look up and turn it over to God. This is the time you hand everything over and stand still.
This test is for a new testimony. Your sling is being stretched further back so you can go even further. God has a plan and He hears your cry. His delay is not to hurt you but for His glory. When He enters the midst, all will know that He is God. Cry if you must, yell if you must, but don’t give up. Don’t let the enemy win. Your General is mapping his attack and He will arrive right on time.
This battle my dear is not yours, it’s the Lords. Let Him fight for you. When He fights our battles, we come out victorious. He is not a loser, he doesn’t know how to fail. Therefore, we are guaranteed to prevail. Look up! Help is on the way. Look to the sky! Jesus is drawing nigh. There is no yoke to heavy for him to bear, just take it to Him and leave it there.
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13
I am standing here in need of your intervention. My knees are weakening and I can no longer stand. I need your help Lord. I need you to help me stand. Father, I know you can not fail. Please fight this battle for me. I can not fight it but I know if you do, we will conquer. Give me the strength Lord to wait on you. Take over this situation and make it a new testimony. I place my trust in you Lord and I thank you for my breakthrough even now…..
Happy Sunday! In an effort to keep your spirits up and help you rest in the Lord, I have put together a selection of songs that will help you to meditate on the Lord and BREAK-FREE in His name. I have also included some beautiful nature scenes that remind us of the GREATNESS of OUR GOD! Hallelujah!
Blessings to you and your family from the Ineus-David Family.
Scripture Reference: Psalm 19
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
3 There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard. [a]
4 Their voice [b] goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
5 which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is hidden from its heat.
7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is pure,
The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.
11 By them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern his errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then will I be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.
14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
You are awesome! You are great! You are magnificent in all your ways. I can not begin to wrap my mind around your greatness. Thank you for being my God. Thank you for being my Savior. Thank you for being my comforter. The heavens declare your handiwork and your holiness is seen in all of creation. I will forever sing praises unto you and your greatness shall forever be in my mouth.
In Jesus’ Name,
Today’s Break-Free Scripture was given to me as I began to ponder on the hardships of life. I began to worry and bother my mind about a pressing deadline. I tossed and turned and just couldn’t get it out of my mind. In the midst of my uneasiness God told me to:
1 Sing to the LORD a new song Sing to the LORD a new song sing to the LORD, all the earth
2 Sing to the LORD, praise his name Sing to the LORD, praise his name proclaim his salvation day after day 3 Declare his glory among the nations Declare his glory among the nations his marvelous deeds among all peoples
4 For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise he is to be feared above all gods
5 For all the gods of the nations are idols For all the gods of the nations are idols but the LORD made the heavens
6 Splendor and majesty are before him Splendor and majesty are before him strength and glory are in his sanctuary
7 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of nations Ascribe to the LORD, O families of nations ascribe to the LORD glory and strength
8 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name bring an offering and come into his courts
9 Worship the LORD in the splendor of his [ a] holiness Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness tremble before him, all the earth
10 Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns.” Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns.” The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved he will judge the peoples with equity
11 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad let the sea resound, and all that is in it
12 let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy
13 they will sing before the LORD, for he comes they will sing before the LORD, for he comes he comes to judge the earth He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth.
So it the midst of my storm, God is calling on me to “sing praises “. Psalm 96 reminds us of how great our God is and that He deserves our praise. He alone is the judge of the world and in His time He will declare His verdict and deliver His people because He is a righteous judge. I pray that this Psalm will cause you to “sing a NEW song” unto the Lord while you wait for your breakthrough. When He does deliver you, SHOUT it from the mountaintop so that the world will know of His goodness.
Have a blessed and restful weekend! Kiss the kiddies, hug your husband and thank God for another day….
