So, last night after work the hubby and I went out to dinner at our favorite AUTHENTIC Italian restaurant in Park Slope – TUTTA PASTA. We just love this place. The dinner was fabulous and we enjoyed each others company and just being together. My Salmon Entree was AMAZING. Roasted Potatoes, asparagus and green peppers garnished my sauteed Salmon. Kenton had the Fettucine Alfredo with Chicken. As we enjoyed our dinner, I started to analyze how the devil almost caused me to ruin a perfectly good night over FOOLISHNESS.
Kenton and I agreed to meet @ Franklin Avenue which is a hop skip and a jump from Park Slope. When I got out of the station, I didn’t see him. I started to wonder what was taking him so long. Then, I received a phone call and He told me to cross Eastern Parkway to meet him as he was parked across the street. Ofcourse I started to whine. Why’d he have to go across the street? He always pick me up on this side (mind you what he did made more sense since we were headed in that direction anyway). I mean doesn’t he know I have these ridiculous heels on and it is such a trek to cross the parkway.(cause you know us women swear that our men are psychic and should know all things)UGHHHHH!
During my little rant while crossing the street, I heard a little voice say SHUT IT UP! (yup God has a sense of humor) He was right. What was I fussing about? All I was asked to do was CROSS THE STREET! As I pondered on my worthless argument, I realized that many of us do this in our spiritual lives. God tells us to do something simple (and reasonable) but we fuss and rant about it as though He is asking us to jump off a ledge. If I had allowed my emotions and thoughts to control the evening, we would not have enjoyed such a beautiful dinner. It makes me wonder how many things have we lost out on because we decided to let our human emotions get in the way of God’s divine will?
Sometimes, we just need to learn to do what we are told. Sometimes, we need to think before we speak. Not every battle is worth a fight. The next time you begin to feel angry or irritated about something, step back and think is your attitude warranted and is this battle worth it. I pray that my almost silly mistake last night, will prove to be a blessing to you all.
Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
Teach me how to control my anger and help me to turn away all wrath with a tender word. Give me the discernment to know what battles are worth fighting and to live daily as a living example of Jesus Christ.
It is now 10:24am and I am now writing this mornings devotional. Ughhhh! Unbelieveable! I walked into the office and was met with 100 fire alarm emails (meaning need this done as early as yesterday). I immediately started working and could barely find a moment to breathe. I began to stress and fuss and you name it. I just wanted to SCREAAAAMMMMMM! Then it hit me. That scoundrel is trying to keep me from my appointment with God. You see I am a strong believer that if you begin your day with God, your day will continue to be led by Him.
The enemy can’t stand seeing us devote time to our Heavenly Father because he knows that this will cause us to be in constant communion with Him. I enjoy my quiet moments with God and Annointed Beauty Devotions is a product of my times with Him. Sometimes we get soo caught up living life that we forget to take the time out to praise the One who gives life. As I commute into the city daily, I see our rat-packed trains filled with people on their Blackberries and reading the New York Times. However, the one thing that brings a smile to my face is when I see someone whip out the Bible and spend that little time out with God.
I know that as I am pleased, God is even happier. It pleases Him when we acknowledge Him as our sustainer. I am still swamped with a 100 things to do while also answering 1000 questions from our New Hires. But, I refuse to let anything come between my Jesus and I. Sorry fire alarms, you’re just gonna have to wait because Jesus and I have a date.
Have you stopped to speak to Jesus today? If not, I think it is time for a “Bathroom Break”, don’t you?
If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me., – Psalm 139:9-10
Teach me to take a little time out for you on a daily basis. Remind me that I can do nothing without you. I place my life in your hands. May I always be in constant communion with you…
So yesterday my family and I set out to put in an application for an apartment. I filled out the form and handed it to the young lady. She took it and put in a rolodex and told us Debbie would get back to us. I was a bit disappointed that we weren’t shown some immediate options. However, I quickly reminded myself that God has a plan and I needed to wait on Him.
As we walked to the bus stop, I noticed that my mom’s demeanor had completely changed and that she had plunged even deeper into her depression. I quickly sprung into my speak-life-and-uplift-her- mode. I have always been a motivational source within my family. You know, the one who runs to everyone’s rescue. Don’t you see my cape?
Unfortunately, sometimes this leaves me without a resting place. As I worked on reassuring her spirit, I was also reassuring my dad while trying my best to keep my spirit above the waters. My dad decided to take a walk around the neighborhood while my mom and I waited for the bus to head home. While waiting on the never-on-time-Bergen-Beach-bus, mom pulled out her cell phone and called her lil sister for some encouragement. “Ah! I’m finally able to focus on building myself up for a minute”, I said to myself.
While standing there making my concerns known to God, I began singing some french hymns that I haven’t heard in a while. Huh, where’d that come from? I don’t even know the words to this song. As a matter of fact, I rarely hear this song. Why am I singing it? , I thought. The song which had me puzzled was, “J’ai quite le ciel pour toi” (I left heaven for you). As I hummed the song and sang the very few words I knew in my head, I realized that it was a love song from Jesus. The Spirit was singing this song to comfort me. It is then that I realized, The Spirit SINGS. Because I was feeling mentally burdened and emotionally overwhelmed, God caused the Spirit to sing.
Isn’t it amazing that in my state of confusion and moment of despair, God gave His Spirit a song to sing. God sent me a message of comfort through His Messenger. It is comforting to know that He will strengthen me in all circumstances and by any means necessary. So although I felt like I had no one to lean on at that moment, (the hubby was at leadership training) He sent His Spirit to be my rock.
As women, we are professional multi-taskers and unfortunately we get so caught up in helping others that we sometimes forget how to help ourselves. But Praise be to God that although we may sometimes forget ourselves, He will never forget us. When we don’t know how to comfort ourselves, He will sing to us a love song and remind us that He is still there.
The first sentence of the chorus to this beautiful french hymn goes on to say, “Je suis ton Sauveur, ton ami” (I am your Savior and your friend). How wonderful is that! In these two sentences He answered all of my silent concerns. He reminded me that He left heaven for me to show me how much he loves me. Then, He went on to remind me that He is my Savior and Friend. He is the one who can and will save me and He is also the friend who will hold me up. Wow, God is my friend. Now I am certain that He is my sure foundation.
The next time you start humming a hymn or gospel song you haven’t heard in a while (like since childhood), stop and run through the words. It may be that God has something to say. Better yet, He’s singing you a love song.
What a Savior and what a Friend!
Isn’t t good to know that the Spirit sings?
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do no know what we ought to pray for but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Romans 8:26
Thank you for leaving Heaven for me. I am so grateful that you loved me enough to come to this wretched world. I am comforted in knowing that you are my Savior and Friend. Now I know that when my spirits are down, you will cause your Spirit to sing. Thank you for being my rock and….
It never ceases to amaze me how women will complain day in and day out that all men are dogs. Yet for some strange reason, they expect prince charming to come along. If you have already put into your mind that they are all dogs, your body language will also adapt to your belief. What this means is that you will drive away any potential blessing because you have already programmed yourself to expect nothing good.
Unfortunately for most women, many potential mates may have walked out of their lives due to their negative outlook on life. Like in relationships, one’s thoughts can determine the outcome. If you believe you are meant to be broke and stressed, guess what? You got it! You will always be broke and stressed.
Many people have passed on many opportunities because they have already claimed “failure”. If you believe you’ll fail, YOU WILL! What one plays in the mind will eventually play in the heart and then manifest in life. If you desire a life of blessings and prosperity, you must first believe that it will and can come to pass. The greatest of philosophers have constantly relayed this very key to success.
As a matter of fact, Jesus Christ is quoted on numerous occasions saying “your faith has made you well.” Even our Lord relayed to us that you can not expect healing, deliverance or a blessing if you do not have faith-or belief that God can or will make it come to pass.
Tonight this messgae is to teach you that without belief or faith, you will NOT accomplish your goals, life mission, purpose or dreams. You must believe that you can in order for anything to come to pass.
I leave you with this note tonight. Phillipians 4:16
I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.
A POEM ABOUT OUR GIRLFRIENDS
Someone will always be prettier.
Some will always be smarter.
Some of their houses will be bigger.
Some will drive a better car.
Their children will do better in school.
And their husband will fix more things around the house.
So let it go,
and love you and your circumstances.
Think about it!
The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart.
And the most highly favored
woman on your job may be unable to have children.
And the richest woman you know,
she’s got the car, the house, the clothes~~~~
might be lonely.
And the word says, “If I have not Love, I am nothing.”
So, again, love you.
Love who you are.
Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say,
“I am too blessed to be stressed and too anointed, to be disappointed!”
“Winners make things happen~~
Losers let things happen.”
Be “blessed” ladies~~~~~
At 12 noon today, I decided to watch the Tyra show and I am SO HAPPY I DID!
Today’s show was entitled: SO WHAT!
Here, Tyra taught women to embrace their bodies and personalities as is. She taught women to love their big hips, big lips, big butts, no calves, small breasts, big breasts, pouch bellies, etc.
Whatever your issue with yourself, Tyra wants you to tell yourself and the world: SO WHAT~!
I love this movement because many of our women are defining themselves based on what the media defines as beauty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and no two people behold the same way. There will always be a difference of opinions. We need to learn how to love ourselves the way God made us and accept that we were wonderfully and fearfully made. We are all made in the image of the most high God. That is enough to have you walking around with your head held high.
You are a princess!
I am proud of who I am, WHOSE I AM, HOW I LOOK, and where I am headed….ARE YOU? Think About It!
Good Job TYRA!!! C2M Gives You = 5 stars
